The Guardian Family understands and agrees that the Breeder will require temporary possession of the female Dog for breeding-related purposes throughout the duration of the breeding program.
Breeding-related possession may include, but is not limited to:
Veterinary & Reproductive Appointments
The Breeder may take temporary possession of the Dog for: reproductive evaluations, progesterone testing, ultrasounds, health testing, pregnancy monitoring, veterinary care, or other breeding-related appointments.
Reasonable notice will be provided whenever possible.
Heat Cycles & Breeding
The Guardian Family agrees to notify the Breeder immediately upon the first visible signs of the Dog entering heat, including spotting or behavioral changes.
The Dog may remain in the Breeder's care during the breeding process until successful breeding has occurred.
Depending on breeding timing and logistics, the Guardian Family may:
- transport the Dog to scheduled breeding appointments as directed by the Breeder; or
- leave the Dog in the Breeder's care during the breeding window.
Final breeding arrangements shall be determined at the reasonable discretion of the Breeder.
Pregnancy, Whelping & Puppy Raising
The Dog will return to the Breeder approximately seven (7) to fourteen (14) days prior to the anticipated whelping date and remain in the Breeder's care until the puppies are fully weaned.
The Guardian Family understands that this process typically lasts approximately nine (9) to twelve (12) weeks total, depending on the needs of the litter, the health of the mother, and puppy development.
All puppies produced by the Dog remain the sole property of the Breeder.
The Guardian Family shall have no ownership interest in:
- puppies, breeding proceeds, stud fees, deposits, reproductive material, or litter-related income.
Breeding Limits & Retirement
The Breeder agrees that the Dog shall not be bred excessively and will generally not produce more than four (4) litters unless veterinary circumstances, failed pregnancies, or reproductive outcomes reasonably justify otherwise.
The Breeder will make breeding and retirement decisions with the health, safety, and long-term wellbeing of the Dog as the highest priority.
The Guardian Family shall not sell, lease, transfer, surrender, or otherwise rehome the Dog without prior written consent from the Breeder.
The Breeder reserves the right to visit the Guardian Home upon reasonable notice to evaluate the Dog's living conditions, care, health, and wellbeing.
